Kiran Chekka M.D.

Dr. Chekka is a double-board certified and fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Physician and Anesthesiologist. Dr. Chekka entered the prestigious Pennsylvania State University-Thomas Jefferson University accelerated medical program directly from high school. After his medical education at Jefferson Medical College, Dr Chekka completed his Anesthesia residency and his Fellowship in Pain Management at Northwestern University, during which he was appointed Chief Fellow.

Dr. Chekka served as an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University for four years. During this period, he presented and published considerable research in Acute Pain Medicine, Regional Anesthesia, and Chronic Pain Medicine, including at the prestigious American Society of Regional Anesthesia and the American Society of Anesthesiology annual meetings. He has a wide-ranging scope of research experience including work on the treatment of Post Herpetic Neuralgia, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and cancer-related abdominal pain.

After his time at Northwestern University, Dr. Chekka joined the ranks of private medical practice and helped to grow the largest pain practice in Illinois.  Dr. Chekka left his private practice in 2017 to spend a year traveling to perform charitable work while working on innovative health care ventures focused on the best ways to care for patients in the rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

Dr. Chekka is dedicated to teaching. He has lectured extensively across Europe, Africa, Asia, and in the the Americas. Having performed thousands of procedures, Dr. Chekka is an expert in Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy, teaches ultrasound guided procedures to residents and established practitioners, and is widely known for his special expertise in novel, minimally- invasive pain management techniques. 

Dr. Chekka has proudly been volunteering for over 10 years at Operation Walk Chicago, which was founded by his partner and former teacher, Dr. Victoria Brander. Additionally, Dr. Chekka has volunteered with several other small charities around the world, including as a volunteer advisor for Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders). He is a member of the Board of Directors of Operation Walk Chicago and The Portes Foundation.

Dr. Chekka lives in Chicago. He has a passion for integrative health, travels regularly, enjoys distance cycling and is an avid scuba diver.
